I’m a Colombian illustrator and pattern designer based in Barcelona.

My visual language is rooted in the richness of Latin American nature and culture, filled with color, balance, and repetition as a way to find beauty in the small and the unexpected.

Through my brand, Catalina Estrada®, my designs live on textiles, wallpapers, fashion, and everyday objects that accompany people around the world.

I’m also a speaker and educator, leading talks and workshops that explore how color, simplicity, and beauty can become tools for transformation, connecting people and cultures in meaningful ways.

I was born and raised in Colombia, surrounded by lush flora, vibrant fauna, and a thousand stories in every leaf and shadow. That early connection to nature continues to inspire everything I do.

I studied graphic design at the Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana in Medellín (Colombia), graduating with honors, and later explored painting and drawing at the University of Pittsburg (USA) and fine arts and lithography at the Llotja Escola d’Art i Disseny, Barcelona (Spain). These experiences helped me shape my own language, intuitive, bold, and full of color.

Over the years, I’ve collaborated with global clients like Disney, Netflix, Xbox, Paul Smith, Coca-Cola, Microsoft, Camper, Nike, Levis, Smart/Mercedes Benz, Paulo Coelho, UNICEF, and the governments of Barcelona, London, and India.

Each collaboration is a chance to bring beauty and intention into people’s lives, whether through a piece of clothing, a mural, a notebook, or a campaign. I see design not just as decoration, but as a way to connect, uplift, and accompany.

Through my brand, Catalina Estrada®, my designs have been licensed across the world, on wallpapers, textiles, fashion, homeware, and stationery.

I love that my work can be part of someone’s daily life. A bag they carry. A wall they live with. A notebook they write in. That’s what gives meaning to what I do.

Talks & Workshops
I’m a speaker at global design conferences and an enthusiastic workshop leader. I share my perspective on design as a tool for change, inviting creatives to use their work to connect people, bridge cultures, and make a meaningful impact.

My talks focus on simplicity, beauty, and intentionality. I believe design can transform not only the way we see the world, but also the way we relate to one another.

I’ve also had the joy of teaching thousands of students around the world through my two Domestika courses, Pattern Design and Creating Color Palettes, where I share my approach to designing with purpose and intuition.

Social Projects
Beyond commercial work, I’m committed to using design to make a difference.
I’ve developed projects that support education, environmental awareness, and cultural preservation, especially in the Amazon, where we’ve helped deliver thousands of school kits to children in Indigenous communities.

These experiences remind me that beauty is not superficial. It can be a bridge. A spark. A way to care for each other.
