SCARVES FOR SOLIDARITY
I just couldn´t possibly feel happier and more proud to see one of my favorites projects ever finally starting to come out. It´s a dream come true and I hope you like it as much as I do.
After visiting the Rural NGO Laboratorio del Espíritu (directed by amazing Gloria Bermúdez) a few months ago, I was totally in love with their project, it completely stole my heart.
Their aim is to promote local development with activities focused on the value and strength of the rural areas with special dedication to Arts and Crafts. Their main base is a Rural Library and Community Center located at Vereda Pantanillo, Municipio de El Retiro – Antioquia, Colombia.

Some of the kids attending the Library live in really difficult conditions and have very sad stories in many aspects, and when I read their notebooks I was blown away by the power and strength of their words, their ability to express their feelings in such a transparent way, their connection with nature was mesmerizing and I was absolutely inspired from what I read.
We decided it was time for them to have their own products so that they can collect funds in order to continue their cultural activities and all the different courses that they teach to the kids and people around the area.
So I have been working on a series of illustrations inspired on the poetry written by the kids who attend the “Creative Writing” courses given by super talented Javier Naranjo in the Library.
First step is that with this illustrations we are producing beautiful scarves.

Estoy enamorada de este proyecto fundado por Gloria Bermúdez, una de las personas más inspiradoras que he conocido en mi vida. Hace muchos años que la conozco y ahora estoy feliz de ver cómo ha cobrado vida su proyecto y cómo con él está cambiando la vida de tantas personas.
Gente como Gloria, como Javier Naranjo, y como todos los que trabajan en este hermoso proyecto me devuelven la fé en los seres humanos.
THE PASSIFLORA IN MY GARDEN
A few months ago I bought a little Passiflora plant (Passionflower) assuming that in European weather it would only live for a few days, however I put it in a bigger flowerpot and to my surprise not only it grew incredibly fast but yesterday it blossomed for the 2nd time. It´s so beautiful, it really made my day! I can´t stop looking at it but it lasts for only one day though.

Este primer post va dedicado a mi talentosa madre y a su hermosa casa…
Muchas veces he hablado de la gran influencia que ella siempre ha tenido sobre mi trabajo y de cuán importante ha sido para mi aprender de ella a tener un sentido personal de la belleza.
De ella heredé el amor por los colores y esto se ve claramente cuando entras en su casa, cuando ves cómo ha decorado ese lugar de ensueño, llenándolo de todos los colores (no conozco a nadie que combine los colores mejor que ella), de objetos particulares, de lindos recuerdos, y sobretodo de inspiración infinita.
I want to dedicate this first post to my talented mother and her lovely house…
I have mentioned many times how much she has influenced my work and how important it´s been for me learning (form her) to have a personal sense of beauty.
From her I inherited my love for colors, that´s pretty obvious when you enter her house and see how she has decorated that place of dreams, filling it with the most vibrant and beautiful colors (nobody combines colors the way she does), particular objects, beautiful memories, and specially never ending inspiration.
